Sensory Feeding Therapy

Sensory feeding therapy aims to assist children who have sensory aversions to different foods affecting their willingness to try items with varying textures, colors, tastes, and smells. This therapy provides a safe environment for children to explore food in multiple ways, fostering positive interactions with non-preferred foods and enhancing their acceptance of them.

6.

Autism Spectrum Disorder

Children with autism spectrum disorder often face challenges in communicating effectively with others. Our method focuses on assisting patients and their families in discovering a communication strategy that best meets their needs, enhancing their independence and advocacy skills through a total communication approach.

7.

Receptive & Expressive Language Disorders

Communication is a daily necessity and a key aspect of being human. When it falters, it impacts our social interactions, relationships, and overall functioning in daily life. In children, acquiring functional language skills is crucial for expressing their basic needs, ideas, feelings, and for self-advocacy.

8.

Augmentative & Alternative Communication

AAC plays a crucial role in speech therapy, particularly for children who are non-speaking or have limited communication abilities. Identifying alternative communication methods for our patients is essential in connecting them with their communication partners. This is a key aspect of our holistic approach helping them develop effective and functional communication skills both within and outside the therapy setting.

You helped us understand Danny's diagnosis by explaining the signs of apraxia and allowing us to observe his therapy sessions. This hands-on approach gave us the knowledge and confidence to advocate for his specific speech therapy needs at school, as they were different from other children’s. It also guided us on how to integrate the therapy strategies into our daily routines to help Danny’s progress. Additionally, you provided a very thorough re-evaluation report, along with links with more information, free CAS treatment training and book recommendations for further information on apraxia. You went above and beyond to ensure everyone understood the diagnosis and provided resources to assist Danny’s school therapists as well. The most impactful thing you did as a therapist was believe in Danny. After seeing very little progress with previous therapists, I had resigned myself to the idea that he might never say 'mom,' along with many other things he can now say because of you. Your passion, expertise, and love for your work have given me hope for Danny’s future. Because of his progress, I even made the difficult decision to take him out of daycare—a place that felt like a safe space—and enroll him in school, where he is now thriving.
